Below, you will find what administration means, a timeline of events, and what has been reported. You will also see what happens next and what you can do now.

What does "in administration" mean for the 79th Group?

Administration is a UK insolvency process designed to help deal with a financially distressed company and protect creditors' interests. A licensed insolvency practitioner takes control of the company. Their job is to protect the company's assets and look after creditors as a whole. They also try to get the best result they can for those creditors.

The administrators take control of the company's affairs and assets and report to creditors on the progress of the administration.

Later developments (late 2025 to 2026)

The story did not end there. Here is what has been reported since:

Reports state that the High Court granted a worldwide freezing order relating to the directors' assets in late 2025. On 29 April 2026, a notice was filed to extend the administration. Insolvency Insider reported that the relevant administrations had been extended and could now run until April 2028. A second progress report was filed on 2 June 2026. In June 2026, TheBusinessDesk reported that eight more companies linked to the group had entered administration.

What has been reported, and what is confirmed?

It is important to separate claims from proven facts. So let us be careful here.

What has been reported:

Reports of court proceedings state that lawyers representing the administrators alleged that around £200 million in company assets had been misappropriated. The administrators' application states that approximately 3,700 investors were owed a future redemption value of around £203 million as at 23 April 2025 across the fundraising entities it describes. These are wider-group figures, not established liabilities solely of The 79th Grp Limited. Administrators' application: fundraising-entity figures

What the group says:

The directors have denied wrongdoing, according to reports. Some people linked to the group have also asked the courts to review how police obtained search warrants.

What is confirmed:

City of London Police reported four arrests. The sources cited in this guide do not report that those individuals have been charged or convicted. Companies House shows the company is in administration. That is a legal status. It is not a finding of wrongdoing.

In other words, serious allegations exist, but the legal process is still going on. These figures also come from news reports and the administrators' statements. Please read the original reports before you rely on any number.

What happens next?

Administrations of this size are slow. Here is what you can expect.

First, the administrators must send progress reports. These usually come about every six months. Companies House shows the 79th Grp Limited reports arrived in November 2025 and June 2026.

Second, the administrators are investigating the company's financial affairs and tracing assets and transactions as part of the administration. Reports indicate that funds moved through multiple bank accounts, which can make tracing transactions more complex.

Third, the administrators may start legal action to recover money. Any money recovered is then shared out under the legal order of payment. Administration expenses are generally paid from the company's assets before distributions to creditors. The priority of individual claims depends on the applicable insolvency rules and the terms and security attached to each loan note.

The honest message is that recovery is uncertain and will take time.

What can you do now?

You cannot control the legal process. However, there are some practical steps that will help you.

  1. Find your company.Check your loan note agreement. Note which 79th Group company issued it.
  2. Gather your papers.Keep your agreement, proof of payment, emails and statements together.
  3. Contact the administrators. If you hold a loan note, check your agreement and the administrators' instructions to confirm how your claim should be submitted. Send your name, amount invested and agreement date to the administrators of your company. Do this for each company if you hold notes in more than one.
  4. Talk to your bank. Some investors may be able to claim back money paid by bank transfer. The UK's APP fraud reimbursement rules apply to eligible payments made on or after 7 October 2024, subject to the scheme's conditions and exclusions. Eligibility depends on your case, so ask your bank directly.
  5. Be careful with offers of help.Recovery scams often target people who have already lost money. Do not pay anyone upfront for a promise to get your money back.

One more point is worth knowing. In July 2025, the government stated that it does not provide compensation for failed firms outside the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You can read the full written answer on the Parliament record.

How can you check the status yourself?

You do not need to rely on news stories. Companies House is free, and it is the official record. Here is how to use it:

  2. Check the company status. It currently reads "In Administration".
  3. Open the Insolvency tab to see the case start date and the practitioners.
